It Was Too Good to be True
Earlier today, I wrote on this blog that Zions Bank e-mailed an offer to its employees for up to three days of paid leave if they attended their precinct caucus meeting and became a delegate for whichever party convention they attempted.
I noted a state law that makes it illegal to offer something of value to entice someone to, among other things, vote or not to vote vote, or to go to the polls or not go to the polls.
At least one legislator took offense at the e-mail and sought a legal opinion.
Well, Zions had a change of heart. Another e-mail just went out to employees retracting the offer.
But any employee can still attempt to become a delegate if he or she wants. It has its own rewards.
