It's a pretty good assumption that none of them will try to get a picture with Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson when he leads protests against the war in Iraq during Bush's visit. It's also a pretty good assumption that Utah is one of the only states left where all the politicians want to belly up to Bush for a campaign photo this year.
It's a given that Sen. Orrin Hatch will get a nice picture with Bush. He's the senior Republican up for re-election this year. But one candidate more than eager to get that photo-op is State Rep. LaVar Christensen, who is challenging Democratic incumbent Jim Matheson in the 2nd Congressional District.
Christensen reportedly has been lobbying the congressional delegation to help him get that picture with Bush to use in his brochures. But there might be a problem.
One of Christensen's main campaign workers is a Republican operative named Hayden Hill, who joined the Christensen campaign after working for John Jacob. Jacob ran against incumbent Republican Chris Cannon in the GOP primary for the 3rd Congressional District and the battle became rather testy on both sides.
There reportedly is some residual resentment in Republican circles about Jacob's tough campaign against a GOP incumbent, not to mention that the incumbent is the brother of State Republican Chairman Joe Cannon.
With Hill involved in that fight, and now working for Christensen, some in the Grand Old Party may be a little stand-offish.
Cheers,
Paul Rolly

Hayden Hill is a class act.
She's also a talented organizer and political campaigner.
I'm sure the Republican Party knows they are lucky to have her on their side of the aisle.
Hayden actaully works for me Paul, can't you get anything right?
