The Honeymoon's Over
Rep. Jim Ferrin of Orem has been a loyal member of the Republican caucus during the several years he has been in the Legislature and, obviously, has benefitted from his Republican credentials in election after election over the years since he lives and runs in one of the most Republican-dominated areas in the United States.

But Ferrin became a bit controversial, you might recall, when critics alleged he was sponsoring and shepherding through the Legislature bills making it easier to start charter schools while such schools were benefitting his private business by financing the growing crop of charters.

That issue became paramount in a contentious Republican primary earlier this year, a primary that Ferrin ultimately lost to fellow Republican Stephen Sandstrom.

So Ferrin, apparently, isn't so Republican anymore.

He has a campaign sign in his yard for the Constitution Party candidate, Edward McGarr, the only opponent Sandstrom has since there is no Democrat in the race.

So much for party loyalties.

Cheers,
Paul Rolly

Kudos to Jim Ferrin for standing up for the citizens of Orem and going with the better candidate!

I'd be leery of being endorsed by a liberal like Ferrin.
