Perhaps Experience Does Count
The five finalists to replace retiring John Massey as Legislative Fiscal Analyst reportedly all have experience in government fiscal analysis.

That's a nice thought when you consider Gov. Jon Huntsman's first choice for an International Affairs director after firing most of the professionals in the Economic Development Office had been an auto-parts store manager, and his latest selection for Corrections Department director had no experience in Corrections administration, not even law enforcement certification, which most of his employees must have.

But, the Legislative Fiscal Analyst selection is made by legislative leadership, not the governor. So perhaps experience matters to them.

The finalists are said to be Jonathon Ball, Mark Bleazard and Steven Allred, all veteran employees with the Fiscal Analyst's Office; Lee Stephens, a former employee of the office; and Cathy Fernandez, deputy director of the New Mexico legislative finance committee staff.

I'm told that the smart money is on Ball.

Cheers,
Paul Rolly

Really, Paul? You really feel the need to attack the Governor on this? I'm shocked that you would turn something as mundane as a legislative fiscal analyst appointment and try to turn it into a hit-piece on a governor who has over 85% approval ratings....including your own fellow democrats.

Interesting that most Utah Democrats are not as bitter, angry and petty as some others.....
