Strengthening the Team
Zions Bank, which often has issues before the Utah State Legislature, has added another state lawmaker to its quiver.
The bank conglomerate recently hired Democratic Rep. Ross Romero of Salt Lake City, who has been a practicing attorney. Romero joins Republicans David Clark of Santa Clara, the House majority leader, Rep. Mark Walker of Sandy, and Sen. Kevin VanTassell of Vernal as Zions Bank employees.
Oh, and Senate President John Valentine, R-Orem, is a well-compensated member of Zions' board of directors.
Rep. Paul Ray, R-Clearfield, had previously been hired by Zions, but he later resigned after reportedly expressing some discomfort about Zions' expectations of him as a lawmaker.
