Measuring Intelligence Levels
After Tuesday's resounding defeat of the voucher bill, Parents for Choice in Education sugar daddy Patrick Byrne blasted the people of Utah, Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. and anyone else who didn't let him have his way.

The Overstock.com chief executive spent millions on the Referendum 1 campaign to pass the voucher measure, which lost by more than 30 points. So in his rant to reporters Tuesday night, he called the referendum a "statewide IQ test" that Utahns failed.

Now that Byrne has perched himself as the judge of everyone's intelligence level, presumably inferior to his own, he needs to take some remedial spelling courses.

Memo to Mr. IQ Evaluator: On your Web site, www.firstclasseducation.org, you have a link symbolized by a trash can logo that you say contains "unbelieveable examples of waste outside the classroom."

It is actually spelled "unbelievable" Mr. IQ Evaluator. Your link that says "what people are saying" starts with a quote from "Governor Bill Rirchardson." It's spelled Richardson, Mr. Superior IQ.

Cheers,
Paul Rolly

Paul,

You the man!

Mr. Byrne's theme song should be, "Burning Down The House" by the Talking Heads.

Patrick Byrne demonstrated to the people of Utah that he has way too much disposable income to throw around. I hope others will join in my effort to help him to solve this problem.

We should leave him enough to buy a good dictionary however.

Paul-

I'm not going to defend what Byrne had to say. However, in your little rant, you overstated the results of the election. Vouchers lost 62-38, which is 24%, not "over 30%" as you stated.

Now, that's me being petty, right? You simply made a mistake, right? EXACTLY. If we all could cut one another a bit of slack, this voucher debate might not have been so distasteful. But as it was, let's just let the whole referendum nastiness stop here. Sound good to anyone else?
