The Righteous Fight
The Conservative Caucus in the Utah House of Representatives is known for its family values agenda: parental choice in everything from selecting schools to the type of discipline employed on the students; government oversight in matters such as reproductive decisions by women and their doctors; the right to carry guns (that's a biggy); making sure gay people can't get married; and, of course, opposing family-destroying taxes at all costs.

So it stands to reason that the Conservative Caucus' fund-raising event (to raise money to keep electing good conservatives to the Legislature) coincides with an evening of watching men beat each other's brains out.

Lobbyists and others who have discretionary money to give to politicians have been invited to "a night of punches and politics" Saturday evening at the Salt Palace by the House Conservative Caucus PAC.

For $5,000 a donor can be an event sponsor, for $2,000 a sponsor and for $1,000 a "caucus friend." For $250, you can just go and enjoy the fights.

The invitation also features a logo of red boxing gloves (no blue allowed in this group).

Rep. Greg Hughes, R-Draper, the Conservative Caucus chairman, happens to be a manager of a professional boxer who will participate in one of the "bouts for the right" during Saturday's fund-raiser.

Cheers,
Paul Rolly

I don't know, Paul, as far as I am against the theocratic designs of our Republican legislature, but, even as a Democrat, I'd appreciate a night of fights more than another over dressed, chicken or fish, over steamed veggie kiss-up fest.

I agree Paul, a good fight beats a crummy cold dinner, and boring speeches. Of course a good Wench auction is still the best event don't you think?
