No, I still haven't heard a credible name as a Democratic challenger to Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., or Reps. Rob Bishop and Chris Cannon (although Cannon has some opponents in his own party) or Attorney General Mark Shurtleff. Nor have I heard any Republican names as challengers to Rep. Jim Matheson or Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon.
But Democratic Salt Lake County Council member Randy Horiuchi might have one.
Salt Lake County Republican Chairman James Evans has confirmed he is being encouraged by other Republicans to run against Horiuchi, an at-large council member and one of four Democrats on the 9-member council.
Evans has been on the phone asking some well-known officials in the county if they would support him.
"If I'm going to run, I want a challenge," says Evans of his potential race against Horiuchi, one of the best-known well-seasoned politicians in the county. "I don't want it to be boring."
Evans served two years in the Utah State Senate, becoming the first Republican to represent the west-side Salt Lake City Senate District 1 in many years. He was defeated in his first bid for re-election by Democrat Fred Fife.
Cheers,
Paul Rolly

James,
What a great idea! You could be the "Usury" candidate.
