Getting Your Priorities Straight
Cat in a tree? Your neighbor's dog won't stop marking his boundaries on your rosebud? The garbage truck dumped a smelly load in front of your driveway and won't come back to pick it up?
If you had some kind of problem in Salt Lake City and decided to call the Mayor's Office about it Tuesday afternoon, well you were out of luck.
Calls to the Mayor's main line went unanswered for a good part of afternoon. Sometimes the calls would just ring and ring until the caller gave up, or a recorded voice would come on and say nobody is there.
Finally, a receptionist was back on duty late in the afternoon to field calls to Mayor Ralph Becker.
The reason for the long absence.
They all were having a birthday party for a staffer and couldn't be disturbed.
