Walker, who lost her bid for re-election to Democrat Karen Morgan last fall, was in a three-way race for vice chair with incumbent vice chair Todd Weiler and former State Rep. Morgan Philpot.
In a bit of an ironic twist, Walker has just returned from a trip to China to visit her son and daughter-in-law and told acquaintances that upon reflection during her trip, she decided party vice chair is not the best fit for her right now.
The job of lieutenant governor has opened up, of course, with the imminent elevation of Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert to governor to replace Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., who has been nominated to be ambassador to China.
Cheers,
Paul Rolly
