Chamberlain, who's headed to Boise State next season, isn't one to flake without a good reason since he spoke to me earlier this month about how he's not afraid of challenges. He gets many of them because he's ranked as the No. 1 wrestler in the country by Wrestling USA Magazine.
But anyway.
Chamberlain was out because of a knee injury and he's currently taking time off to heal.
I couldn't reach anyone from Springville on Sunday evening, and that's why I didn't include information about the injury in Monday's wrestling notes. I would still like to write about Chamberlain's possible injury, however.
Most recently, Dak Adamson traveled from Dallas just for a shot at Chamberlain, though Adamson lost but not before giving Chamberlain his first takedown in a year. And it's a shame to even think Chamberlain missed out on "The Toughest Tournament in the USA" because he was scared -- which I truly doubt.
Please someone -- Springville coach Justin Judkins, for example -- contact me at csun@sltrib.com immediately about this issue. I was on vacation last week, and just heard about Chamberlain and his knee.
