Wrestling: Viewmont Invite just as competitive
The Viewmont Invitational is not like the Layton Invitational, in a way.

The Layton Invite -- which happened earlier this month and had some of the best wrestlers in the country going at it against each other -- offered some unique storylines. Like the fact that Dak Adamson trekked all the way from Dallas just to get a piece of Springville's Jason Chamberlain, and to gain some national exposure in the process. What the Texan got, however, was a heartbreaking loss -- Chamberlain reclaimed his No. 1 ranking in the country -- as he re-injured the left shoulder that kept him off the mat for nearly two years.

Chamberlain won't be at this weekend's Viewmont tournament, but that doesn't mean much -- since there will be plenty of reasons why to watch the action.

The perfect example: Viewmont will be a team to watch, since the Vikings beat Wasatch on Wednesday.

The storylines don't end there.

Some of the best wrestlers in Utah will also be there, and all of them, of course, will want to show how good they are. The wrestlers on this prestigious list include Viewmont's Nate Larsen (112 pounds), Cyprus' Matt Brown (140), Layton's Adam Fager (189), Mountain Crest's Raider Lofthouse (112) and Ethen Lofthouse (160), Bingham's Kade Moss (112), Millard's Cameron Whitaker (130) and Payson's CJ Ford (130) and Colton Cannon (135).

So what if the Viewmont Invite is not like the Layton Invite?

Again, it doesn't mean much.

WHAT: The Viewmont Invitational

DATE: Today at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

PLACE: The Viewmont High gymnasium
