Kearns and Copper Hills both have 3-6 records and are vying for the fouth and final playoff spot from Region 3. The Cougars need a win tonight and Copper Hills needs to lose in order for Kearns to make it to the playoffs.
With Copper Hills facing league-leading Riverton - a team that has yet to drop a region game - Kearns has the better shot at winning tonight. West Jordan is a strong team behind the play of point guard Gabriella Rodriguez and sharp shooter Whitney Woodruff. The Jaguars also have a handful of other players who are very good.
Kearns will try to win without its top scorer, Brooke Larsen. She averages 14.8 points a game but will sit out of tonight's game because of an incident that happened in the Hunter game on Thursday. In the case that both Kearns and Copper Hills lose tonight, the team will face off in a play-in game.
"We don't have Brooke so everybody has to step it up and make up for it," Kearns coach Emily Williams said. "We have to make sure we execute or offense and make sure that whenever anybody is in there, everybody contributes."
