Football: Carbon principal's letter to now-fired coach
Tim Tiller said he's a bit confused about why he was fired by principal Greg Stanfield as the head football coach of the Carbon football program, especially when the apparent reason stemmed from a letter he wrote to the local paper, The Sun Advocate -- a piece of writing Stanfield approved.

Stanfield voiced his approval of the letter in an e-mail to Tiller, which is shown below and given by Tiller to run. The e-mail was edited by The Tribune for grammatical and formatting reasons.

Tim,

Thank you for the letter. It looked good. Go ahead and put it in the newspaper. There are still some questions I have and items I want.

I still need your blueprint for Carbon football, how you are going to build this blueprint, timeline, etc.

I also would like an exact copy of the playbook you are going to give to your players and coaches. Outline things, like are you going to line up with a 1 or 2 or 3 technique, gaps, etc. I want it personalized for Carbon High School, just not a lot of plays.

I want to know how are you going to teach the techniques, details on your summer program, hell week, practice schedules, what are your weekly plans and how are they going to be accomplished. What part or each role of each coach, etc.

Your meeting schedules, camp schedules, basically what does Carbon High School stand for and how is it going to look and timelines to reach these goals.

Plan on public relations to get people to support and believe in what you are going to do to get the community supportive.

I know this sounds like a lot but these are answers I need to have and these were also the things I wanted answered from our first meeting and the phone call we had yesterday. I will give you until Friday, July 4 to get all of this in. By now you should pretty much have these things in place and written down already. Tim, we do support you but we need to have these things so we can let people know what direction Carbon High School football is headed. Thanks again. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Greg Stanfield
Principal Carbon High School

That seems a little over the top for what a Principle would need. I can understand him wanting a schedule and a basic run-down of what he will be doing with the FB program, but wanting to know what gap techniques he'll be using is a little "control freakish" to me.

I guess the principle knows what he's doing so he'll be coaching the team this year.
