I know, I know.........bad timing on my part
Thanks for reading The Recruiting Trail these past five months, everyone.

I hope it's been what you expected it would be when you clicked on that icon for the first time.

This will likely be my last post for the next 5-6 days or so.

I'm off to Monterrey, Calif., to take some vacation time and play in a charity golf scramble for four days (Pebble Beach, etc.) with some friends of mine, and I don't know what kind of computer and internet access I will have while I'm there.

I know, it's a bad time for a recruiting blogger to take time off, what with the Utes having a big recruiting weekend and the national signing day quickly approaching. Things are also interesting on the BYU front, too, and some local prep football players such as Sky View's McKade Brady (Navy) and Park City's Colt Nichter (Washington State) are starting to get good looks.

But this is one of those chances of a lifetime, too good to pass up.

Talk to you in a week or so.

Jay

C'mon Drew, have the trib spring for the internet connection at the hotel. We need our updates.

Just like everything else has been this past football year in the Trib... as long as the "y" gets full & complete coverage, all is fine in the world. UTE fans can wait around a week or so, right?

Hate to take this out on you (while you're not even here to defend yourself) Drew, but wow the Trib has horrifically favored the "y" in its coverage of the football season. This is kind of like a last-straw deal for me.

Since the Trib is a UTAH paper (not Provo), both teams should have equal coverage. The only exception should be if one or the other is in the national spotlight in a true sense (not a we're-ranked-22nd-but-whine-because-we-think-we-should-be-higher sense).

The truth is the "y" beat NO ONE this year. They had no case for crying about the BCS with their pitiful 2 losses & no signature wins. Everyone knows who have to go undefeated to bust the BCS.

By the Trib's coverage of the "y" one would have thought they were a top 10 team with a chance to make a real splash in the post-season.

I suppose incessant whining by coaches & officials from the team down south warranted all the coverage.

Good to know how to gain favorable coverage going forward ... but oh, yeah ... we don't cry when people don't respect us, we work harder to EARN it rather than whine & cry & demand it like some other in-state team.

Nice delusional post. Well done.

- One team is better, that is why they get more coverage.

- BYU beat nobody? Well, Utah lost to nobodies. Which one is better?

- BYU was never demanding to be in the BCS. Where have you been? They knew that was over with Tulsa. They don't like the system, just the same, and for good reason.

- No they weren't a top 10 team. Just top 14. Not a big difference.

- Funny you talk about Utah fans not whining about being covered and then go on to whine for 7 paragraphs about not being covered.

Commenting after the end of the season about unequal coverage. NOT whining & crying about why we're not ranked, or why we weren't in a BCS game.

You sir/madam, are the king/queen of delusion. That or a flat-out liar. Perhaps you were out of state for all of November & December?

All Bronco did was cry about HI getting the BCS bowl. Making comments such as "... I don't know what else we have to do ..." etc. etc.

If you're saying we beat no one, you're not only delusional, but possibly completely stupid. We beat Louisville on the road. We beat UCLA-something you failed to do (and yes, I am counting your ridiculous bowl game in that statement-you were out played & out classed start to finish in that game).

Our losses were after our injuries when we were still trying to figure out what personnel to use in what capacity. To the date of the UNLV game, we had no starting running back, as all in the system had failed to step up.

Grady does not & never has fit our system. Our coaches put together a great game plan for UCLA. For UNLV, I think they didn't prepare enough (not acceptable) not knowing whom the QB would be, and thinking no extra prep was necessary considering it was UNLV. All things factored in, not to mention your classic let down loss.

We can make excuses. We had some tough circumstances. At the end of the day, we lost. A loss is a loss is a loss. Something you have failed to learn as a byu fan. You had trip ups, you lost twice. That tends to happen. A perfect season is a rare thing.

I'm frustrated, fairly at the lack of equal coverage. I am certainly NOT screaming & whining & crying that no one nationally is taking Utah seriously. Or that we should be ranked higher (in your case), or ranked at all.

Get out of 1984 my friend. That was an awfully long time ago. No one cares about byu anymore. You are not a national power, and a year or two flashing in & out of the high end of the top 25 does not a national power make.

Are things looking up for you? Sure. But you earn that respect. Don't beat Arizona & then ask ... what else do we have to do be recognized. It's ridiculous. And I"m embarassed for you & your program. Not to mention that it reflects poorly on the rest of us when another non-BCS screams & cries for respect when they simply have not earned it.

When you do that, we all get thrown into that whiny category. We may have lost 2 games, we may not be where we were during the Meyer years. You can say whatever you want about the UTE fan base. But what you can't say is that we whine & cry for national respect. We never have.

When we've had it, it was earned. When we haven't, we didn't earn it. Neither have you. Bottom line. Get over it. Accept it.

GO UTES!

Yes, I was in the state for much of those two months, and all I remember Bronco saying was that it seems that Hawaii's model of playing a weak schedule and winning all your games seems to be the model to get into the BCS and teams might follow that model. I'm not trying to patronize here, but I'd love to see some quotes that support your point because I didn't hear Bronco saying - at the end of the season - that they were snubbed. I did hear him complain about the system in general, which is legitimate.

Where did I say "you beat no one." You said BYU beat no one. I said BYU may have beaten no one, but Utah lost to a couple of NOBODY teams which it seems you agree with. I didn't say anything about the quality of your wins.

You obviously didn't watch the Vegas bowl. The game was only close because of a bone head play at the end of the first half. UCLA never lead the game. UCLA only scored twice (both field goals) on drives starting in their own territory. The fact is they couldn't move the ball.

I agree a loss is a loss, how haven't I learned that as a BYU fan? I didn't dismiss any BYU loss now did I? What BYU fans do you talk to? What BYU fan thought we should be ranked higher right now? Everyone I talked to and from everything I read, we were all pleasantly surprised by the final ranking. We thought we'd be about 5 spots lower.

I'm not in 1984. I barely remember it. I'm not shouting for respect or coverage - that would be you. All I'm saying is BYU is getting more coverage because they are a better team.

Wow, sh-ute, why the hate? Your guy Jay Drew will be back soon. He will write an incredible story about the Utes most recent commitments. What he writes will make both of you happy. Looks like a very solid recruiting year for Utah to say the least. No need to blast the Cougs. Just love your own guys. We just try to take a step at a time, a 4th and 18 here, a last second unexplainable touchdown to a wide open receiver there.

BYU beat Utah- I guess the Utes count as a nobody. At least since Oscar Meyer left. Poor sackless little brother.

Hey Mars bar. Stop living in the past. When you crash the BCS like we did you can talk some smack. Utes lead the series 53-33-4.
