Football: Spanish Fork's Wilson commits to BYU
Just got off the phone with Richard Wilson, the Spanish Fork tight end who has scholarship offers from some of the top schools in the country.

Wilson said he committed to BYU on Friday morning.

"I called coach Mendenhall and told him," Wilson said. "It just felt right."

Wilson's Spanish Fork team plays at Timpanogos tonight, but he is home nursing a cold and trying to get some sleep in between the phone calls.

"Coach Mendenhall acted like he was pretty excited when I told him," Wilson said.

Alright! Let the Austin Holt/Richard Wilson battle for TE begin. The winner gets 1,000 yard seasons with many TDs. The loser get to play LB for the scout team.

Utah's scholarship offer to Wilson was pulled immediately upon hearing of this commitment. Also, all records of Utah's recruitment of him have been destroyed.

Mr Wilson, welcome to the BYU family and it's long line of dominate TEs. I look forward to watching Austin Holt and yourself become the most productive TE tandem in BYU's illustrious history, a 1-2 punch that will give every defense fits. I believe in a few short years the new saying around the state will be "Wilson is STILL open!"
