Football: Logan's Manning is Utah nominee for national quarterback honor
Jeff Manning won't be playing in the 3A state championship game this Friday, but the Logan High quarterback did receive some good news recently. Manning has been selected as the official Utah nominee for the 2008 Joe Montana Quarterback of the Year Award.

Manning has also been nominated for the Gatorade Utah Football Player of the Year award.

Manning has an offer from Utah State (although with the coaching change there, all USU offers could fall by the wayside). Recruiting experts say he would have more offers by now if he hadn't made it clear that he was going on an LDS Church mission before enrolling at a college.

DeBartolo Sports University, which picks the Montana award winner, says Manning is now eligible for the national honor.

We mentioned last week that several athletes from Judge Memorial had signed national letters of intent.
The Bulldogs also have a football player who is getting some serious recruiting attention. Zach McKown, a linebacker and fullback, is scheduled to take a recruiting visit to Harvard. Southern Utah and Northern Arizona have also shown interest in the son of Utah Jazz strength coach Mark McKown.
