Utes' softball team announces signees
Utah's softball team raided local high school Riverton for two of its three signees for the 2009-10 class. The Utes signed Sandi Bowles and Kelsi Hoopiana from Riverton and Alyssa Garcia out of Houston.
Bowles is an outfielder who lettered three years at Riverton H.S., hitting .495 with 49 hits and a 25-game hit streak in her junior season.
Hoopiana, a utility player, was a first-team all-state player for Riverton. She hit .400 in five appearances at the ASA National Championships.
Garcia, a catcher, is a two-time first-team, all-district player.
