Football: Cottonwood safety Hosea commits to Washington State
Pac-10 schools continue to mine Utah's Cottonwood High School for prep football talent.
The latest Colt to commit to a Pac-10 school is safety Asi Hosea, who will sign with Washington State.
Hosea, a 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior only played organized football for two years. He also had offers from SMU, Kansas State, Hawaii and Arizona, according to his father, Charles Hosea.
Hosea moved from Hawaii to Utah prior to his junior season at Cottonwood.
Charles Hosea said his son chose Washington State because of the opportunity to be able to play right away. The Cougars went 2-11 in 2008, defeating only Washington and Portland State.
Cottonwood lineman John Martinez chose USC and Colts running back Isi Sofele committed to California.
Another Cottonwood lineman, Percy Taumoelau, has also received several D-I offers from the likes of Arkansas, WSU, Arizona and Hawaii.
As for Hosea, his father said that he drew some interest from Utah and BYU, but neither local school extended a scholarship offer.

You know I often wonder why so many of these Cottonwood kids leave for pac 10 schools...Then I realized something; Remember that Cottonwood high has to bus kids from Taylorsville just to fill its occupancy rate and be a 4A school. This "tiny" school from a "tiny" state (I say tiny in a football world sense of view)just so happens to produce Pac10 talent year after year?? I also remembered that there have been some stinkiness surrounding the recruiting done at Cottonwood. I even think there have been some legal issues surrounding the recruiting at Cottonwood. So basically why are all these kids leaving Utah for the Pac 10?? Its easy....They pay better
