Basketball: High-scoring Texan commits to Utah State
Utah State's men's basketball program has received an oral commitment from Preston Medlin, a senior at Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas.

A 6-foot-5 shooting guard, Medlin averaged 22.5 points per game in the regular season. He committed to USU coach Stew Morrill on Thursday afternoon, just a few days after his team was eliminated from the 5A Region I bi-district playoff.

Medlin is expected to sign with the Aggies on April 15 when the regular signing period begins. Most high school seniors signed last November during the early signing period.

"It's a good program, and I like the coach a lot," Medlin said.

Coincidentally, Medlin was second in scoring in the area to Marshall Henderson of L.D. Bell High School. Henderson has signed with Utah.

Medlin made 65 three-pointers his senior season. He had 34 points in Hebron's loss to Bell on Tuesday.

Medlin also had offers from Centenary, Houston, Stephen F. Austin and Western Kentucky.
