Girls soccer: Six Utahns sign with New Mexico Highlands
New Mexico Highlands University, an NCAA Division II school in Las Vegas, N.M., might have to change its nickname from the Cowboys to the Utahns if new coach Justin Wagar keeps this up.
Wagar, who was a Utah Valley University assistant before taking a job as the head women’s soccer coach at BYU-Hawaii, has signed six Utahns to national letters of intent for women’s soccer.
Here are the Utahns that the Cowboys recently signed:
* East High center-midfielder Sussannah Hertz
* West Jordan goalkeeper Lauren Waite
* Salem Hills’ striker Storie Brockbank
* Bingham midfielder Jessica Henninger (a transfer from Southern Utah)
* Davis goalkeeper Scottie Prince (a transfer from BYU-Hawaii)
* Alta midfielder Stephanie Devisser (returning to competitive soccer after attending BYU-Idaho)

Highlands is going to be strong next year. Coach Wagar is lucky to get that quality of signing class plus the other 6 players he has coming in for a good Division 2 team. They may be a group to reckon with next year. Why is he going for so many Utah players though, CA has stronger ones and he only has a few of those coming in?
