Basketball: Former scoring champion Eaton will walk on at Utah State
Preston Eaton, a 6-foot-1 point guard from Springville, was one of Utah's top prep basketball players in 2007, but he left on an LDS Church mission a few months after graduating.
Well, Eaton returns home from Chile in August, and he has already made a decision where he will play college basketball.
Eaton's father, Alan, confirmed Wednesday that Preston will walk on at Utah State. Preston has been guaranteed a spot on the Aggies' 2009-2010 roster.
Eaton led the entire state in scoring his senior year at Springville, averaging 23.4 points per game. He also averaged seven rebounds and five assists for the Red Devils.
Eaton had a half-dozen or so scholarship offers from junior colleges and smaller four-year schools, but has decided he would rather walk on at Utah State, his father said.
