Basketball: Lone Peak's Haws, a BYU signee, plays well in Florida
Lone Peak's Tyler Haws, the Tribune's 2009 Class 5A MVP, played in the Senior Showcase All-Star Game in Florida on Saturday night.

Haws was continually shuttled in and out of the game, but still managed seven points, four rebounds and two assists as his Team USA defeated Team Florida 118-11.

Haws was 2-for-3 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line.

Before the game, organizers put on a three-point shooting contest. Haws competed in that competition, which was won by Ray Taylor of Florida.

Southern Utah has signed seven new basketball players for the 2009-10 season, but the Thunderbirds apparently aren't done recruiting.

Coach Roger Reid has one more scholarship available to dole out, a source close to the team confirmed.

One player the T-birds are looking at closely is Logan Magnusson, the former Wasatch High star who recently helped Salt Lake Community College win the national junior college championship.

Magnusson, a returned missionary who transferred to SLCC from Dixie State, will reportedly make a visit to Cedar City some time this week.

I hope that score is a typo. 118-11? Ouch!
