Girls basketball: Former MV coach Houle misses out on Wyo juco job
Former Mountain View High girls basketball coach Dave Houle, a member of the High School Coaching Hall of Fame, was bypassed for the head women's basketball coaching position at Northwest Community College in Powell, Wyo.
Houle was one of three final candidates for the job, but the position went to Janis Beal, an assistant coach at Snow College in Ephraim last year.
Beal is a Lovell, Wyo., native and Northwest alum. She played college basketball at Southern Utah University.
Northwest went 12-20 last year and usually features a couple of Utahns on its roster each year.

A junior college guard who at one time had an offer from Utah State -- Alex Garcia-Mendoza -- has signed with Arkansas-Little Rock.
A 6-foot-3 guard, Garcia-Mendoza played at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo., last season and averaged 14 points and seven rebounds per game.
