Baseball: Where top Utah seniors are headed
This is a big week for high school baseball in Utah, with the 5A state tournament going on at Utah Valley University's Brent Brown Ballpark and the 4A state tournament going on at Kearns High.

Last week, Juan Diego won the 3A state tournament at UVU, downing Judge Memorial in the championship game.

Scouts say this is a rather deep class of talent (2009), but lacks superstars who could go high in June's Major League Baseball Draft.

That could happen next year, as the class of 2010 includes Pine View's Marcus Littlewood, Lone Peak's Dillon Robinson, Cedar City's Kai Eldredge and Spanish Fork's Adam Duke.

But first things first. Here's a list of where many of the state's top seniors will be playing next year:

Zach Adams, Cottonwood, pitcher: Utah

Brock Duke, Spanish Fork, pitcher: Utah

Kendall Mayer, Cottonwood, pitcher: Washington State

AJ Carman, Judge Memorial, pitcher: Washington State

Keenyn Walker, Judge Memorial, outfielder: Central Arizona

Court Zollinger, Judge Memorial, infielder: Utah Valley University

Mike Dedrick, Canyon View, pitcher: Univ. of San Diego

Blake Krahenbuhl, Bingham, pitcher: Utah Valley University

Colton Yack, Bingham, infielder: Dixie State

Rhett Nelson, Timpanogos, pitcher: Santa Clara

Kyle Bilbry, Viewmont, pitcher: Salt Lake Community College

Josh Mooney, American Fork, pitcher: SLCC

Chunner Nyberg, Dixie, pitcher: BYU

Bo Fisher, American Fork, catcher: SLCC

Taylor Jones, Cyprus, pitcher: College of Southern Nevada

Justin Campbell, Alta, pitcher: Utah Valley

Vince Giron, Bingham, infielder: College of Southern Idaho

This is obviously an incomplete list. If you know of any others, send an email to drew@sltrib.com and we will list them here in future posts.
