Basketball: Utah State announces the signing of two guards
We mentioned last week that Utah State had received a commitment from Tyrone White, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Portland, Ore.

The Aggies made it official today, announcing that White has signed a national letter of intent. Utah State also said that Preston Medlin, a 6-3 guard from Hebron High in Texas, has signed his letter.

White averaged 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game for the Air Force Academy Prep School last season and helped the team go 25-7. White played for Portland's Jefferson High before moving on to Air Force Prep.

Medlin averaged 22.5 points per game as a senior and helped Hebron High go 20-11. He shot 53.0 percent from the field and 44.0 percent from three-point range.

Ryan Strong, a 6-2 guard from Lewiston High in Lewiston, Idaho, has signed to play for Salt Lake City's Westminster College. Strong helped lead Lewiston to the Idaho Class 5A state championship as a senior.

He averaged 10 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists for a team that went 22-4 and won the school's first state title in more than 60 years.

Maggie Thach of the Tribune is reporting on our prep sports blog that three Bingham High girls basketball players are moving on to college programs next year.

Malori Dixon will play for Snow College, Maddie Hind will play for the College of Eastern Utah and Nicole Yazzie will play for Westminster College.
