Basketball: Westminster signs Idaho prep star
Alex Drecksel, a 6-foot-4 wing player from Pocatello, Idaho, who played for the IMG Basketball Academy his senior season has signed with Westminster College.
Drecksel signed an NAIA letter of intent to join the Griffins in time for the 2009 season and is the third player from the class of 2009 to sign with coach Tommy Connor's program.
Drecksel averaged 14.4 points and 5.7 rebounds and helped IMG win the NCSAA National Championship and the Hoop Group Jam Fest.
He was the conference player of the year as a junior at Pocatello High and a first-team all-stater that same season.
Westminster went 30-5 last season and made its first ever trip to the NAIA quarterfinals.
