Softball: Oly pitcher Carly Duckworth to sign with BYU

Olympus High softball star Carly Duckworth has committed to play for BYU’s softball program and will sign her letter of intent on Friday at her school.
Oly is the alma mater of BYU assistant softball coach Vaughn Alvey.
A pitcher, Duckworth helped Olympus make it to the semifinals of the state softball tournament last spring for the first time in school history.

Softball: Where Utah Pegasus stars are headed

At least three members of the Utah Pegasus club softball team will be signing national letters of intent with college softball programs this week.
Springville’s Brittany McCray will sign with North Dakota State University.
Lone Peak’s Raven King will sign with Ohio University.
Uintah High’s Madison Robb will sign with BYU.

Volleyball: Mendivil signs with ASU

November 12th, 2009

Danica Mendivil, a 6-1 outside hitter for Pleasant Grove, has signed a letter of intent with Arizona State. Mendivil helped PG win the 5-A state volleyball title and picked up MVP honors for her play. At ASU she'll play for Jason Watson, a former BYU coach.

Girls soccer: Skyline stars moving on

We’ve got some more commitments/signings to pass along, this time from Salt Lake City’s Skyline High.
Skyline junior Anna Cassell has committed to play for Northwestern University. She will sign next year, because she’s just a junior. The goalkeeper was first-team all-state as a sophomore.
Also, three Skyline seniors have signed or will be signing this week.
Liv Zabka and Laura Benson will sign with Idaho State.
Lexie Krantz will sign with Utah.

Softball: 2008 State MVP signs with BYU

November 11th, 2009

 

Bingham High softball star Tori Almond, the 2008 Player of the Year in Utah as a sophomore, has signed to play for BYU’s softball program.
Almond, a pitcher, helped the Miners to the state title in 2008 and is a two-time all-stater.
She signed with BYU on Wednesday morning.
