Knee Pains? RSL Aims to Fix 'Em All at Once
Three players, three surgeries, one day.
That's what RSL is facing today, as three of its starters are expected to have knee surgery at the Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. Midfielder Javier Morales, defender Jamison Olave and forward Fabian Espindola all are scheduled for repairs on their injuries — though a team spokesman said all are expected to be ready for the start of next season.
While Olave and Espindola have been playing for months with their nagging problems — Olave has loose cartilage and bone spurs, while Espindola has a torn meniscus and a painful bony growth called an ossicle — Morales suffered his injury in dramatic fashion in the team's championship victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy last month.
Morales appeared to knock knees in a collision with the Galaxy's David Beckham, and had to leave the game in tears after suffering a torn meniscus and strained lateral collateral ligament.
