All in the family
Sweet beejeebus, they're everywhere! Not only does Utah have more than 4,000 same sex couples, but they're proving to be adept Utahns by raising more than 1,200 yard apes, according to a new study out of the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law.

The Williams study is chock full of fun facts:
  • 53,832 gay, lesbian, and bisexual people live in Utah.
  • Salt Lake County reported the most same-sex couples with 1,964, followed by Weber and Utah (Go Happy Valley!) counties -- tied at about 270 couples each.
  • Believe It or Not -- Two counties are tied with Salt Lake for the highest percentage of same-sex couples -- Piute and Duchesne. What is that all about?

The report says that 1,964 of Salt Lake County's households are occupied by same-sex couples, which works out to 0.64%. Piute County, in the 2000 census, had a total of 509 households altogether, and %0.79 of those are headed by same-sex couples. Work out that multiplication and it appears that there are 4 same-sex couples in Piute County.
