Our photo studio is the bridal suite!
You've heard of the diamond ring in the ice cube, messages spelled out in rocks on mud flats or in plastic cups in a chain-link fence. But here's a new ultra-tacky way to propose marriage: in the Tribune!
According to the Tribune features department pitch, "You know you're going to pop the question, but when? And how? Enter The Salt Lake Tribune's contest to win the opportunity to propose on Valentine's Day in the newspaper!"
Besides, presumably, living in a trailer park, the contest rules are pretty simple: Tell your love story in 400 words -- ink ain't cheap! -- and agree to let a Trib reporter and photographer observe when you get your answer.
The Trib's lips are sealed "so that if you win, your special person will be surprised to read your winning essay and see your picture in the newspaper... ."
The concept has real potential if the beloved's answer is, "Yuck! No way, you freak."?
