Univerity of Utah officials hammered the Trib for a story they complained exaggerated the chasm between raises given to U faculty and staff and the raises given to administrators.

It seems U profs are bent out of shape over bodacious salary hikes for administrators. (The humongous jump in student tuition apparently isn't a concern to anybody.)

After wrangling with Trib reporters and editors, a more acceptable apples-to-apples comparison was reached
. If you like spreadsheets and perhaps have a Phd. in business math, you will enjoy it in today's Trib.

Taxpayers will be relieved to hear that U administrator raises were only triple that of the U's proletariats.

In a nutshell:
  • Faculty average salary increased 12 percent.
  • Administrator average salary increased 33 percent.
  • Tuition increased 30 percent.
