Houdini he's not

If you think Utah has problems with its cons checking out of county slammers, it could be worse.

This Colorado knucklehead is suing Pueblo County for negligence in making it too easy for him to escape.

On his second escape attempt, the irrepressible Scott Anthony Gomez Jr. pried loose a ceiling tile and crawled through the jail's overhead. But things went downhill -- rapidly -- when tried to rappel on bedsheets down the building. He fell 85 feet and got "seriously injured."

Gomez is suing the Colorado county, claiming the sheriff caused his injuries by putting him in a jail that is "an open invitation to escape."

It might be time for the sheriff to put a lawyer in the pokey.
