Now, on to parking meters
In a mind-bending discussion on the Hill, Ogden Rep. Neil Hansen successfully pushed a proposal that would ban traffic ticket quotas through the House law enforcement committee.

Much of the debate revolved around whether such ticket quotas really exist. You would have thought the lawmakers were talking about Big Foot. Or unicorns.

"Wha? No way!" testified cops ranging from state troopers to police chiefs when asked about the time-honored, revenue-raising practice of ordering officers to issue a minimum number of tickets to motorists.

Rep. Curtis Oda felt compelled to ask, "Is this a perceived problem or a reality?"

Finally, Rep. Carl Wimmer called bullsh*t on the quibbling. "I worked for a police department and had to write three tickets every day. That was a quota, and they exist," said the former West Valley City and South Jordan officer.

But a mystery remains. Exactly why does the state want to get involved in local traffic enforcement? Just a guess: One of Hansen's constituents got a ticket.

Cmon, Warchol. You can try a bit harder at this whole opinion journalism thing. The reason Hansen is running the bill has everything to do with the fact that Neil has run for mayor a few times, and passionately hates Mayor Godfrey. Hey, I would hate Godfrey too if he had kicked my ass a few times. Hansen didn't even make it out of the primary this last time.

If you want more information, use the internet tool referred to as "google", located at www.google.com, and search for Neil Hansen, Matthew Godfrey, ticket quotas, etc.., It's fast, easy, free, and more accurate than just taking a shot in the dark guess that sound pithy. Didn't they teach you this in angry/anti-social/bitter/cynical journalism school?

What? Rolly was your professor? Oh. Not your fault.
