That's why there's a red light on the dome
You can't say you didn't know.
Three stories -- DNews, AP and Trib -- in as many days, have plumbed the depths of legislative sleaze. The most pathetic part is how little influence costs lobbyists: $280,000.
Meanwhile, SL Weekly details how several lawmakers are wholly owned subsidiaries of special interests, including the nuclear industry and the charter-school building craze.
I know, its so hard to read all those words. So let me boil it down into street terms. Your state representative, with few exceptions, is on the take -- Bakeesh, palm grease, lagniappe.
I'd call them $10 whores, but that would do a disservice to the integrity of $10 whores -- who wouldn't turn a trick for a lousy Billy Joel ticket.

Of course, the senators and reps get indignant whenever the media shines some light on their ethics.
“My constituents would appreciate the fact that I’m spending my time trying to understand the issues better.” said GOP Senate Majority Leader Curt Bramble, who took $535 worth of sports tickets and $377 golf rounds. Bramble, who repesents the beating heart of Mormon country, had the chutzpah to let cancer-distributor R.J. Reynolds take him out on the links.
Curt, anyone with an IQ equal to their hat size knows corporations don't spend money if it doesn't bring results.

Too bad your blog also isn't a column in the Tribune. But it is refreshed so often that I guess the web is the best place. And you have a much bigger readership there, too.
Really enjoying this, Mr. Warchol. You are making my day, every day.
Thank you.
