Our butt, Bono.
It came as no surprise to me that Bono gushed over Salt Lake City's "sophisticated" music scene at the premier of "U2 3D" at Sundance Film Festival. The Irish rocker is known to be a huge fan of Kurt Bestor and has covered some songs from Janice Kapp Perry's new "Let's Sing About Latter-Day Prophets." (Let's not even get into the late-night jamming with Orrin.)
I was disturbed, however, with the difference in the coverage of Bono's proclamation of love for SLC in Utah's top dailies.
Larry Curtis of the DNews reports it this way:
"This might be the night to kiss the Salt Lake ass," praising Utah's capital city for its "very sophisticated" music scene and some great radio stations. (This got a laugh from some in the audience, but Bono seemed earnest.) "So, yes, we will be back in Salt Lake."
Now, who do you believe? Would an international philantrophist/activist/rocker use a vulgar word referring to buttocks?
*Crawler's techies tell me that had the DNews editors cleaned up Bono's quote using the term "buttocks," they would have gotten substantially more on-line hits.

Larry Curtis of the DNews reports it this way:

"This might be time to kiss some Salt Lake (butt*). It is well known that Salt Lake City is a sophisticated place for music." This comment was greeted with some laughing from the audience, but the Irishman seemed sincere and continued, "There are some great radio stations here, and we will be back."
Sean Means of the Trib, reports this:"This might be the night to kiss the Salt Lake ass," praising Utah's capital city for its "very sophisticated" music scene and some great radio stations.
