Say lah VEE

Sundance Film Festival will feature protests and picketing this year -- not against movie violence nudity or obscenity, but against geese... their livers, at least.

SHARK (Showing Animals Respect & Kindness) vows to picket several Park City restaurants during the festival for serving foie gras. Those tasty, fatty livers have become a treat to be protested and banned. Want to take a vow to abstain from foie gras? Go here.

Or, better, you can dig in. Stein Eriksen Lodge courageously continues to offer foie gras.

The subject is so controversial it made it onto the Deseret News food page. With an unfortunate assumption about the sophistication of her readers, Valerie Phillips explained that foie gras is pronounced "fwah grawh." Showing even less sensitivity for readers, DNews headline writers, as usual, could not pass up a pun: "Fowl Play."
