You can see the ballots in the dark
You can see the wheels turning in Sherrie Swensen's head:

Corporate sponsorships have become a way of business in America.
Government should be run on business principles.
Ergo: corporate-sponsored elections.
The Salt Lake County Clerk made it so through her innovative Partners in Democracy Program.

Energy Solutions, which was pouring tens of thousands of bucks into improving its image in Utah, loved the idea. Apparently, running a radioactive waste dump isn't as warm and cuddly as you thought. Even the best flaks have a tough time spinning symbols like the one below.

Putting your name on an NBA arena is one thing, but "Energy Solutions Democracy"? They jumped on it.

Of course, you'd have your Negative Nellies, like Sen. Scott McCoy who wants it outlawed. "Voters come in and see their poll workers who are running the election, and they're plastered with some kind of corporate logo. Why would we want the people who are supposed to be administering an election in a neutral way ... to be wearing that?"
