DABC party animals

KUTV Channel 2 news reports the state Public Safety Department is investigating allegations that undercover Alcoholic Beverage Control officers sexually harassed a waitress at Bogey's nightclub.

The incident was caught on surveillance cameras. The undercover sting was allegedly part of a coordinated plan at the state and local level to run the Clearfield nightclub out of business.
The Trib reported last month that over the course of two hours, three state undercover cops repeatedly made lewd comments to a waitress, offered a customer $5 to expose her breasts and, when she refused, bought her a drink. The officers then cited the club for serving alcohol to an intoxicated patron — the woman they had treated to a shot of Jagermeister.

Following the incident, Rep. Curt Oda is sponsoring a bill to remove investigative powers from the DABC.

This isn't the first time the DABC has been embarrassed by a video record. Commissioner Bobbie Coray denied a news report that she suggested the commission order opaque "Zion curtain" partitions installed at restaurants to protect non-drinkers from seeing alcohol. Coray insisted she was joking. But a video transcript of the meeting showed that if Coray was joking — she needs to work on her delivery and maybe develop a punchline.
