Couple found alive
Update: Thomas and Tamitha Garner have been found alive.

The search for a photographer and his wife lost in Utah's southwestern desert has taken a dark turn.

The hunt has expanded beyond the backcountry to pawnshops and animal shelters in nearby towns. Fearing that Thomas and Tamitha Garner have been victims of foul play, police are checking to see if anyone has hocked the couple's belongings. They also will call animal shelters to find out whether the Garner's dog has turned up.

"We don't want to, but we know we need to go down that road," says Thomas Garners' father, Gerald. "My concern is something happened to them that shouldn't have."

The couple took a weekend road trip into the storm-swept desert straddling the Nevada-Utah stateline to photograph wild horses. What makes police suspicious of foul play is the absence of anything sign of the couple despite an intense air-and-ground search.
