He comes in peace

"Ever since his youth, Canadian Perry Edmundson has been fascinated by space and dreamed of becoming an astronaut," according to The Record of Kitchener, Ontario. "And while it's not the real thing, he'll be one small step closer to achieving his ambition on a simulated mission on Mars."

Edmundson, a spacecraft mechanical systems engineer, has found his Mars on Earth in southern Utah, as part of an eight-member crew that touched down on our planet to do two-week scientific project called Expedition Delta.

"It's one of the closest environments we have on Earth to what they found on Mars," Edmundson says.

Hmm
. While I can believe LDS missionaries have reached Mars, I've got to doubt the Red Planet has not evolved better liquor laws.
