It doesn't take a mind reader...

I would use this photo by the Trib's Scott Sommerdorf in a "Write the Caption" contest, but the results likely would be too horrible for even the Web.

Sen. Chris Buttars, right, is listening to testimony from Cristy Gleave, city employee, mother and lesbian, pleading for the Salt Lake City domestic partnership registry. Buttars is sponsoring a bill that would prohibit such "repugnant" programs.

You know, for most other people it would be worth an amusing caption. But Chris Buttars ALWAYS looks like that. He's one of those people who walks around with a perpetual frown. Could it have something to do with how tightly wound he is about what people do in their own bedroom? Or the fact that he's so intent on hating others and promoting enforced bigotry that the ugliness is eating him from the inside out? Basically, people who are happy and content with life do not look like this man. Ever. They just don't.
