Tainted Flix
Utah-based Clean Flicks is trying to get as far away as possible from an Orem man who operated a sanitized movie rental store with a similar name until he was arrested for allegedly buying sex from two under-aged teenage girls.
Daniel Dean Thompson registered on MySpace.com as "cleanflicks" and also operated under the name Clean Flix, according to a lawsuit by Clean Flicks. Both businesses used to rent and sell videos that were "sanitized" to remove nudity, foul language and graphic violence.
Just to show how serious it is, the Clean Flicks is suing Thompson for $1.1. million.
And it's obvious why, the story of Thompson's fall from grace has spread across the Web. The Hollywood Reporter, a movie industry site, linked to the Tribune's story and later reported back, "The post has quickly become the most popular post in the history of the blog."
