College guns
Utah's hairball of gun statutes just got fuzzier today as a proposal that would have allowed concealed weapon permit holders to carry their guns openly on Utah's college campuses stalled in the House under pressure from administrators and students.But the House approved a defanged version that will let permit holders to openly pack in most other public places. Here's the convoluted language of HB473:
"Concealed firearm permit"... permits, but does not require, concealment of the firearm... Except "The permittee shall conceal the firearm ... if carrying it on or about school premises...Here's my favorite part:
It's not a violation "if a permittee inadvertently, unintentionally, or accidentally exposes the firearm while carrying it on or about the school premises."Let's see a campus flat foot enforce that mess. Take a shot at deciphering HB473 for yourself here.
The bill's sponsor Rep. Curt Oda argues that recent shooting rampages at universities are evidence for more weapons in the hands of law-abiding citizens.
''Every law stops the good guy, no law will stop the bad guy. Columbine, Virginia Tech, Northern Illinois. We don't know what could've or would've happened had there been somebody armed, but we know with absolute certainty what happens when there's not."

Until guns are openly allowed in the Utah House of Representatives, may I suggest that you keep your asinine opinions about the attitudes and motivations of public school professors to yourself!

Guns are already allowed to be carried openly in the House Chamber. So, assuming you are a professor, who obviously has no clue as to the laws, Bye!
