Welcome to "Bad City"
Tim MacMahon of the Dallas Morning News makes a less-than-insightful observation on last night's Jazz-Mavs game, "They don't like Dirk in Utah," he blogs. "Jazz fans would boo any Mav that committed a flagrant foul. But they're especially loud when Dirk does the deed."

No kidding. Especially when Dirk's "deed" last night was to deck Andrei Kirilenko. AK was taken to a hospital, where X-rays showed he had suffered a sprain, not broken bones.

MacMahon, at least, judges, "it didn't look like a cheap shot. ... Dirk grabbed AK-47 around the shoulders and made sure he didn't get an easy layup, resulting in a nasty fall." Still, it didn't make Dirk any friends in Utah:

Folks around those parts haven't thought much of Dirk ever since he famously called Utah a "bad city" during the Cuban-era Mavs' first playoff series win. So there was even more animosity than normal in the booing of Dirk's takedown of Andrei Kirilenko.

The Jazz went on to a 116-110 win. And, for what it's worth, I like the nickname "Bad City" for SLC.

That's it, its settled.
The jazz will now be known as the "Bad City Ballers".
Let's get this rolling on the local sports talk shows.
Glen, you want to split the copyright money with me?
