The ABCs of FLDS
Texas case workers dealing with the FLDS have been provided with a "Cultural Competencies" primer on the Eldorado polygamy group that offers these helpful tips:
  • Expect FLDS members to be fearful, self-destructive and distrustful of government. (Sounds like half the people I know.)
  • Members believe other religions are doing "Satan's work." (So do most Baptists — and you can add Democrats to the list.)
  • FLDS mothers display "learned and enforced helplessness" that prevents them from making competent decisions for their children.
  • FLDS Children are embarrassed by their mothers. (What kid isn't?)
  • FLDS women travel with "two spies" and believe they are not going to be accepted by the "gentile world." (The primer, itself, is evidence they won't be accepted by the outside world.)
Greg Cunningham, a spokesman for Texas Family and Protective Services, acknowledged the primer was developed with the help of ex-FLDS members.

Rod Parker, a speaking for the families, argues the so-called tip sheet promotes bias.
It is completely one-sided. It is the propaganda of the anti-polygamy spin written down as though it's cultural sensitivity.

About this primer:

* Expect FLDS members to be fearful, self-destructive and distrustful of government. (Sounds like half the people I know.)
* Members believe other religions are doing "Satan's work." (So do most Baptists — and you can add Democrats to the list.)
* FLDS mothers display "learned and enforced helplessness" that prevents them from making competent decisions for their children.
* FLDS Children are embarrassed by their mothers. (What kid isn't?)
* FLDS women travel with "two spies" and believe they are not going to be accepted by the "gentile world." (The primer, itself, is evidence they won't be accepted by the outside world.)

About Primer 1:

The Utah Constitution forbids polygamy. True, a similar provision in the Arizona Constitution was struck down as unconstitutional, but the practice is still illegal in Utah and Texas. Yes, they should be afraid.

About Primer 2:

It is the men of the FLDS who are doing Satan's work. These include:

* Apostasy
* Abusing power in general
* Polygamy
* Exercising Priesthood Ordinances without authority from the LDS Church
* Not recognizing that President Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet, Seer, Revelator, and President of the ACTUAL LDS Church
* Not having the Holy Ghost
* Emotional abuse against women and children
* Physical abuse against women and children
* Rape
* Incest
* Child molestation
* Sodomy
* Adultery
* Fornication
* Forcing women to marry
* Forcing young girls to marry
* Making women wash their husbands feet with their own hair (Mr. Jeffs should read the Gospel of John again as to how to practice the washing of feet. Does Mr. Jeffs have a FOOT FETISH?!!)
* Not letting the women and children to exercise their Constitutional rights
* Systematic truancy
* Not letting kids be kids (within reason, of course)
* Child abandonment
* Banning fairy tales
* Banning Newspapers
* Banning the radio (even listening to Oxycotin dope fiends like Rush Limbaugh)
* Banning CD's
* Banning dancing
* Banning parties
* Banning TV
* Banning the Internet (We can go to the FLDS website, but they can't? Hmm?)
* Banning free thought
* Violating civil rights
* Racketeering
* Extortion
* Forcible Entry and Detainer
* Real Estate Fraud
* Welfare Fraud
* Nepotism
* Defrauding the Government in general
* Violating the Building Codes
* Building a "Temple" for the use of having sex orgies with young girls (1. What ever happened to the phrase "Get a [hotel] room"!? 2. If Jesus Christ Himself seen what was going on that "Temple" in El Dorado, he would have gotten a flamethrower and burned is to the ground. It was bad enough for Him in His mortal life to see people selling goods at the Temple of Herod in His day.)

About Primer 3:

When the men of the FLDS church make the women when to eat, when to sleep, and when to go to the bathroom (or outhouse), they can't make the right decisions. At least in the 19th Century, women were offered the right to vote, to divorce, etc.

About Primer 4:

Kids want to do their own thing, but when they see how their uneducated, unwilling, and ignorant mothers, yes, they wood be embarassed.

About Primer 5:

They would if they didn't have an "us v. them" mentality. The reason why they have "two spies" is because the FLDS men don't want snitches to reveal the TRUTH of what goes on at the "ranch". In fact, Rozita Swinton should get a medal for doing what these ignoramus women wouldn't do, call the Police and have the CPS people take the children out of their abusive world.

As for Ms. Swinton, I think her motives were good, since Mr. Jeffs took it upon himself to demonize Blacks as less than human. Both the Bible and Book of Mormon say that God is not a respector of persons, and that convicted felon (Jeffs) ought to reread those Scriptures.
