Black and white — and blue all over.
If you want a glimpse of the troubled world of newspapers, including the Tribune, read Paul Beebe's article in the Trib. The daily circulation at the Trib and the LDS Church-owned Deseret News has fallen, right along with most papers nationwide, as the Internet matures as an information source.
- The Salt Lake Tribune's daily circulation down 5.1 percent, to 121,699. Sunday circulation down 4 percent, to 143,296.
- D-News: down 1.6 percent daily, to 73,817. Sunday down 3.2 percent, to 77,488.

"The circulation of both papers have declined because MediaOne has scaled back distribution of The Tribune and News at hotels in Utah. Brent Low, MediaOne president and chief executive officer, said the distribution channel wasn't profitable."
Utter nonsense. Pure BS. If he doesn't, Lowe should know the tribune and deseret news are losing circulation because both are boring reads. So much useless information and very little original and/or investigative reporting. The deseret news is nothing but a pulpit for the mormon church. Why would anyone outside that culture/corporation want to buy it?
The tribune is owned by extreme right-winger Dean Singleton, who claims personal friendship with Bush. The editorial department, don't forget, endorsed Bush not once but twice at Singleton's direction. The tribune is supposed to be moderate in tone compared with the extreme right-wing dnews. Ha!
Bottom line is that both papers are just plain bland and people are becoming adept in getting their news and other information from websites.
And so what's up with Rod Decker stating on "the Corner Table" that he'd met Singleton and the man was a liberal??
