Morley's $3 million campaign problem
The Tribune reports that State Rep. Mike Morley, R-Spanish Fork, is named in lawsuits in Utah and New York brought by the Securities Exchange Commission to recover $3 million "loaned" to him by a hedge fund that allegedly defrauded investors. The former National Republican Party Businessman of the Year is up for re-election and, not surprisingly, the Utah County GOP is trying to keep his legal problem on the downlow.
The party is discouraging his GOP opponent Chance Williams from discussing Morley's $3 million legal problem — even though Williams is making ethics reform central to his campaign. Williams tells the Trib:
This lawsuit shows everything that everyone has always been saying about him.

The Republican party here in Utah has to face the music. Telling a candidate not to talk about what is public record amount to Communist censorship.
Makes me want to change parties today.
Morely, and the GOP heads trying to keep this quiet should be thrown out.
I couldn't agree more with the first post. I am a die-hard Republican though actions like this make me want to register independent.
What I do know is the Bill of Rights, Constitution means something to me. And for the Utah County GOP to tell anyone that the incumbents record is off limits, what a crock! What next?
Marian Monihan the county party chair needs to resign. That she would participate in something like this and/or allow it to happen is wrong.
And Mike Morley, Mr Conservative. Mr knows the Constitution and "the proper role of government" better than the rest of us. Everything but the 1st Amendment I guess.
Does anyone read the Constitution anymore? Patriot Act, REAL ID Act, wiretaps, writ of habeas corpus, etc. I guess not these Republicans.
