Memo to Sandy citizens:
Yo! Sandy citizens! Do your city officials have to be splattered bright orange by a dye bomb before it gets through your heads that you're being ripped off?We're not talking crumbs from the ol' cookie jar here, either. Top administrators have been helping themselves to yearly bonuses of $7,000 to $12,500. And that was only made public after the Tribune fought those same officials for four years to get the details released.
That's right, they used your money to try to cover up how they were pocketing your money.
Despite the embarrassment, Mayor Tom Dolan, city administrators and the City Council don't plan to change the program. Presumably, because they think Sandyites are chumps.
Here's a quick primer on how you got screwed.
You've got a chance to regain your self respect: Go to the public budget hearing at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday) at City Hall and rip Mayor Tom Dolan a new one.
