FLDS: cultural touchstone
The ripples triggered by the raid on those funny dressing fundamental Mormons are spreading through the pop culture.

The Village Voice's advice columnist Dan Savage, references the FLDS, believe it or not, to console a reader who is guilt stricken about dumping his girlfriend. Says Savage:
Look, darlin', people get dumped all the time. With the exception of the 12-year-old "brides" of creepy "fundamentalist" Mormon f ***sticks, a little getting dumped into each life must fall.
By the way, Savage says "being dumped inspires a person to date smarter and more defensively."

For instance, if your dad or uncle sets you up on a blind date with the stud muffin pictured at right, get very "defensive."
